Meet the Speakers of Back to Basecamp

With a week to go to Talent Summit Back to Basecamp, we’re getting more and more excited about our line-up and about what they’ll be sharing with us! Here’s a little taste of who and what is coming your way on September 15th.


Q Hamirani, Global Head of People Operations, Airbnb
Q is the global head of people operations at Airbnb, HR tech geek, start-up advisor and a freelance executive coach with a passion for building scalable people functions to help change the world. He brings a unique perspective from each of his experiences to be a creative people & business leader. At Back to Basecamp, Q will present a fascinating case study covering how Airbnb architected their layoffs in the early days of the pandemic, how they are designing work beyond the pandemic, the evolving nature of their employer value proposition and the value of role sharing. 


Claude Silver, Chief Heart Officer, VaynerMedia
VaynerMedia’s —and for that matter— first ever Chief Heart Officer, Claude Silver fuses empathy with agency to unlock employee potential and foster a culture of belonging. Between her deep education in psychology and spirituality, two decades as an advertising strategist, and time at VaynerMedia, she’s been studying and influencing human behavior for over three decades. So you do not want to miss Claude’s session at Back to Basecamp as she discusses how we balance the ongoing demands as markets grow with the performance expectation of customers, colleagues, and the organisation. And how we get that balance right between heart and hustle. 


Sarah Manning, VP, People at Hopin
Tune in on September 15th to hear Sarah’s session as she discusses crafting a co-located culture in a distributed environment. Sarah leads the global People team at Hopin. Having worked in large corporations and rapid growth start-ups, she deeply understands HR strategy and processes and the importance of adapting these based on a company's size, scale and growth ambitions. With experience from acquisitions and geographic expansions to employee engagement, culture and leadership, she thrives in driving an organisation's growth and success through curating the best possible employee experience. At Back to Basecamp, we'll hear some fascinating insights and examples of initiatives that they've used in Hopin to connect their people as they've scaled to become the fastest growing technology business in Europe ever. 


Dena Upton, Chief People Officer at Drift
Dena Upton leads Drift’s people operations team, responsible for the company’s talent development, operations, recruitment, and retention. Drift have experienced skyrocketing growth, more than doubling in size in 2018, opening and expanding offices in San Francisco and Seattle, and continuing to hire in double figures on a weekly basis in 2019. Prior to Drift, Dena served as LogMeIn’s VP, People and Talent for six years, and brings over 20 years of experience in managing people. Under Upton’s leadership, her prior companies have been recognized for outstanding culture and talent management, including nine consecutive Best Places to Work accolades for LogMeIn from the Boston Business Journal. So, who better than Dena, to help us unravel the diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges that remote and hybrid workplaces have created? Dena’s session “Bias, Belonging & Equity” is one you don’t want to miss.


Gideon Pridor, Chief Marketing Officer, Workvivo
Gideon is Workvivo’s interim CMO and chief storyteller. At Back to Basecamp Gideon will be discussing High Touch Engagement for Low Touch work, where he’ll lend his storytelling expertise and chat about the importance of communication in a remote/hybrid work environment. Gideon is a veteran marketing leader with a track record of growing disruptive startups into global leaders, that redefine their markets.


Leslie Caputo, Solutions Consultant, Humu

Rossa Mullally, Director, Sigmar Recruitment
Rossa is an Associate Director in Sigmar Recruitment where he manages the award-winning Sales and Multilingual Division. Rossa specialises in tech start-up recruitment campaigns and has been involved in the initial VP hire and subsequent ramp-up for companies including Qualtrics, Ground Labs and Total Defense amongst many others. Rossa will discussing “Hiring in a Hybrid World” at Back to Basecamp and will be sharing his recruitment insights for hiring in this hyper-competitive candidate market and the importance of personalisation, pitching and process for securing top talent.


Geraldine Finn, Senior Director, People Strategy, Operations & Innovation, Twitter
As the war for talent evolves, the battle for retention has become the new front upon which it's being fought on. Join Geraldine for a fireside chat where she’ll discuss some of the practices, tactics and initiatives that Twitter are adopting to deal with these unprecedented levels of attrition. Geraldine joined Twitter in 2015 as Head of Recruitment & Senior Manager, HR, for EMEA, and has been in her current role since August 2019.
